It's still very hot - 42 degrees again today but the beauty of Split serves to negate any concerns about perspiration complex. The city is ancient in Kiwi terms and extremelyu beautiful, the natives are friendly and all is well aboard Chinano. Wew arrived yesterday and last night ventured into the city, going "deep" into the old part of Split, apparently one of the world's biggest mausoleums built by some rich bloke about 1700 years ago in hgis own memory. He achieved his goal, the place is unforgettable, chock full of small bars and restaurants, tables spilling onto the streets where you can order a beer or two and watch the promenade. The marina is some distance from the city and a small boat ferries rich boaties and us to and from the old city in a five minute journey that provides a brilliant vista of the city. Yes, there is a spire, one of the biggets we've seen. As I typer this the boysare enjoying a cappucino on a sidewalk cafe overlooking the "international port". David S has booked his airfare home to Hawaii and leaves Sunday. Larry finds out tonight about his plans so by the weekend we should be firm on where too next. Larry's dilemma is wheretyo leave the boat but Split would be ideal with an international airport and a pretty good marina.
Sorry no pictures today as I left my camera connection at the marina. The plan is to do a few touristy things and then hit the town tonight. Hope you're enjoying the travelogue. If it seems a little repetitious I apologise - everything's just pretty neat. Trust all's well and feel free to leave comments.
